MOT Type 1 is also commonly known as DOT Type 1 (named after the Department of Transport specification for granular sub-base material).
It is the most widely used approved sub-base in the construction industry.
In order for a product to be classed as 'Type 1' quality it must comply with the Department of Transport Specification for Highway Works.
DOT Type 1 is easy to compact with superb load bearing qualities.
Recommended for any highly trafficked area and most commonly used as a sub-base for highways, car parks, footpaths, driveways, hard standings and building bases. Any application where a firm sub-base is required.
